It was originally applied to a Roman Catholic revival in the immediately post-WWII period. It is being employed for the evangelical movement pioneered by such people as the late Robert Wilkin, Thomas Oden and Christopher Hall. I've reviewed several books since December by evangelicals of this ilk, so I've been thinking about this for a while.

Mind you, I still don't know whether we can talk about an Anglican ressourcement. More is the pity.

Peace,
PhilPhil Sniderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08944477827816680359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22356730.post-40279883237849605242008-04-15T21:06:00.000-04:002008-04-15T21:06:00.000-04:00I'm looking forward to reading it. Otherwise, I fear I am adrift and we have not gotten to the Greek yet!

FWIW
jimBJimBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17312606954135884910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22356730.post-31796038315960827752008-04-15T00:41:00.000-04:002008-04-15T00:41:00.000-04:00I'm very pleased to see you dealing with this as i...I'm very pleased to see you dealing with this as it connects directly with what I've been thinking and have just posted on - in fact I think I'll do a postscript linking to this post.

And I'll be very interested to read the rest of this series on Origen as I'm planning to read his On Prayersoon!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22356730.post-24075348048445013822008-04-14T19:51:00.000-04:002008-04-14T19:51:00.000-04:00Jim;That is one of the reasons why I wanted to do ...Jim;

That is one of the reasons why I wanted to do the series anyways- partly because I was so grateful to see the suggestion and partly because I think it was a good idea.

As for the board, I know exactly what you mean. I was looking forward to the post we discussed on the other site. Unfortunately, (and you think Origen sometimes lapsed into heresy!) that thread has been pretty much degraded. I bowed rather abruptly from it.

It really is a shame that the early church was not more preservation minded. I don't really blame them, ducking Roman troops and Jewish accusers as they were, preserving anything they found unedifying was simply not in their capacity. Still, we do have Origen on prayer and several other topics and I think of those writings as treasures.

FWIW
jimBJimBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17312606954135884910noreply@blogger.com
